How to Finish Off the Terminated Tile Molding Edge
- 1). Clean the tile molding edge. Since grout often gets spread everywhere during a tile job, you may need to scrape the grout away from the outside edge of the tile with a utility knife. The row between the tile trim and the wall should not be grouted. Once you have removed any grout, wipe the area with a rag to finish removing the debris or any dirt from the joint. Allow the tile molding edge to dry completely.
- 2). Apply a bead of caulk to the joint between the tile molding and the wall. First, load a tube of caulk into a caulk gun. Cut the end of the tube with a utility knife. Gently apply the bead of caulk along the area.
- 3). Smooth the bead of caulk with your finger. Carry a damp paper towel with you as you go. Wipe away the excess caulk onto the paper towel.
- 4). Allow the caulk to dry overnight.
