    • 1). Chain six stitches with your G hook and join them together with a slip stitch so a circle is formed. Chain three, which counts as the first double crochet. Make two more double crochets over the center ring. This makes the first, three double crochet shell.

    • 2). Chain two, put three double crochets over the ring. Repeat the stitch series from the chain two, twice. Chain two then join the yarn to the third chain of the center round.

    • 3). Attach the second color of yarn in one of the chain-two spaces. Chain three which counts as the first double crochet. In the same chain-two space add two double crochets, chain two, and make three double crochets. This creates a corner. Chain one and skip over the next shell.

    • 4). Make three double crochets, chain two and make three more double crochets. Chain one and skip over the shell in the previous round. Repeat this series of stitches twice. Join the yarn to the third stitch of the previous round. There should now be four corners.

    • 5). Join the new color yarn in a chain-one space at a corner. Chain three, this counts as a double crochet, make two more double crochets in the chain-one space. Chain one then make three double crochets, chain two, and three more double crochets in the chain-two space of the corner.

    • 6). Chain one, put three double crochets in the chain-one space and chain one. Make three double crochets, chain two, and three more double crochets in the corner. Chain one and repeat the series around the square. Join to the third stitch of the previous round.

    • 7). Make three double crochets in all chain-one spaces and then one chain. Make three double crochets, chain two, and three double crochets in all chain-three spaces. Then chain one. Add your preferred color of yarn when you begin each new round.

    • 8). Cut the yarn, leaving a 4-inch tail when you reach your desired size. Pull the tail through the last stitch to secure. Thread the tail onto a yarn needle and weave the end back into your work.

    • 9). Weave all tails from color changes throughout the blanket into the stitches using the yarn needle.
