How to Make a Beaded Bracelet on a Cardboard Box Loom

  • 1). Measure and cut a piece of corrugated cardboard to a 4-inch-long by 3-inch-wide strip. Measure to about 1 1/2 inches from one of the shorter ends and begin measuring and marking 1/8-inch-wide increments along the edge on the long side. Stop measuring and marking when you are 1 1/2 inches from the other short end.

  • 2). Cut a slit into each line you marked along the long end. Place the other long end of the cardboard on the top edge of a shoe box and tape it in place with duct tape so that the slots are facing up.

  • 3). Measure and cut four pieces of thread that are 2 1/2 times longer than the length of the shoe box. Fold the threads in half, thread them through the slits in the cardboard strip and bring the loose ends to the outside of the other side of the shoe box. Gather the ends together and tape them to the side of the shoe box with a piece of duct tape. The loom is now threaded with the "warp" threads.

  • 4). Cut a piece of thread to 1 foot long and tie it to the thread on the far left, about 2 inches away from the edge of the shoe box where the threads start. Slip the other end of the 1-foot-long thread through the eye of a beading needle. Slide beads onto the needle, onto the thread and across the top of the warp threads.

  • 5). Bring the needle under the warp threads and back through the holes of all the beads in the first row. When you get to back to where you started, wrap the thread once around the first warp thread and add another line of beads for the second row. Repeat this process until your beaded bracelet is 7 inches long.

  • 6). Weave the beading thread through the first two rows of beads and tie it to secure the thread so that the beads don't unravel. Cut the ends of the warp threads off of the loom on the edges of the box and tie the ends of a lobster clasp to the ends.
