How to Make a Purse From Anything
- 1). Line a vintage lunchbox with felt, gluing the soft fabric into place. Whether you're sporting Scooby-Doo or G.I. Joe on your lunchbox, you'll get chuckles when you stroll into your 1980s party with this purse. The felt inside the box will protect your makeup container and cell phone, and keep your change and keys from rattling loudly with every step you take.
- 2). Cut a sheet of wallpaper that is wide enough to hold the items you need to carry with you for the day, and make the sheet twice as long as what you need, as you'll be folding it over to make your purse. Glue some felt to the back of the wallpaper and allow it to dry. Fold the paper in half, and either staple the sides or stitch them. Punch two holes near the top of each side, and run two shoelaces in a matching color through both holes on each side -- one shoelace for each side of the purse -- tying them on the ends to make a knot that is larger than the hole. Place a black plastic paper clip, with the metal tabs that fold down, on the middle of the open side, to close your purse once your items are inside.
- 3). Glue felt to the inside of a vintage plastic videocassette holder. This should be the enclosed kind that rental locations used to hold the tapes -- not the plastic sleeves with an open end. Slide your important items into the purse and snap the case shut for a whimsical carrier for your valuables.
