How to Remove the Regulator From a Nitrogen Tank
- 1). Locate the gas tank storage for the facility. The tank is usually found near the location of use. Look at the pressure indicated on the pressure gauges of the tank to find the empty tank. The pressure gauge will indicate either a zero pressure or a very low pressure.
- 2). Tighten the nut on the face of the regulator by turning it clockwise to shut off the gas flow through the regulator. This will prevent any more gas from entering the system.
- 3). Open the vent valve by turning the turning the valve lever to the open position. Open the valve slowly to release the pressure in a controlled fashion. The internal parts of the regulator are then at atmospheric pressure.
- 4). Loosen the male nut holding the regulator into the female fitting on the tank using a nitrogen wrench or crescent wrench. Unscrew the nut and remove it from the tank. You can then place the empty tank in the storage area for spent tanks and hook up a fresh tank to your system.
