Gerard Butler Says Yes to PS I Love You
Aug 28, 2006 - Gerard Butler (Phantom of the Opera, Dear Frankie) has signed on to star in the film adaptation of Cecelia Ahern's novel, PS, I Love You.
PS, I Love You will be directed by Richard LaGravenese from a screenplay by LaGravenese and Steve Rogers. Butler joins Hilary Swank who had already committed to starring in the project.
Ahern's novel is the story of Holly and Gerry, a happily married couple who - as a joke - come up with the idea of making a list of things for Holly to do to help her make it through the day if something were to ever happen to Gerry.
What began as a joke turns into reality when Gerry passes on, leaving a real list for Holly to complete.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, PS, I Love You will be shot in New York and Ireland, with filming expected to begin later this year.
Butler will next be seen in 300, a bloody action epic based on Frank Miller's graphic novel. Butler also recently completed work on Butterfly on a Wheel with Pierce Brosnan and has booked a leading role in Priest (currently in pre-production).
