How to Plant Grow Roots to Start Another Plant
- 1). Use your shovel or spade to unearth the soil around your plant.
- 2). Gently remove a 2-inch section from your rooted plant.
- 3). Remove any dead or decaying leaves from the section of plant you have removed.
- 4). Dip the roots of the plant section into a glass of room temperature water.
- 5). Place the plant section into a plastic or clay pot.
- 6). Gently cover the plant section with a cup of good potting soil. Pack the soil around the roots of the plant so that the roots are at least an inch deep inside the pot.
- 7). Water the plant three times a week for two weeks. Place the plant in a sunny spot in your garden or on a windowsill, but avoid direct sun.
- 8). After two weeks, replant your new plant in your garden. Leave at least two inches of space around the plant so that it has plenty of room to grow.
- 9). Water your new plant twice a week and regularly remove any dead or decaying leaves to ensure vitality for your new plant.
