- 1). Navigate to the Microsoft Virtual PC site and download Virtual PC for Windows 7. Choose your version of Windows 7 and desired installation language. Click the "Download" button under the "Windows XP Mode" label. If you have not previously validated your Windows 7 installation, you must do so before downloading Virtual PC.
- 2). Click the "Continue" button to allow the website to install components needed to validate your installation of Windows if prompted. Follow the prompts to verify your Windows 7 operating system. When the "Windows Validation Was Successful" message appears on the screen, click "Continue."
- 3). Select your version of Windows 7 and preferred installation language again if you had to validate Windows 7. Click the "Download" button under the "Windows XP Mode" label. Save the file to your computer. Wait while the file downloads. The file is approximately 500 MB, so it could take a while depending on the speed of your Internet connection.
- 4). Navigate to the folder on your computer where you saved the Windows XP Mode installation file. Double-click the file to launch the installer. Accept the License Agreement, and follow the prompts to install Virtual PC on your computer. Reboot the computer when prompted.
- 1). Click "Start," "All Programs" and then "Windows Virtual PC." Click Windows XP Mode in the list.
- 2). Accept the License Agreement, then click "Next." Accept the default installation parameters. Enter a password, and enter it again to confirm it. Enable the "Automatic Updates" option, then click "Next."
- 3). Click "Start Setup" and wait while Virtual PC installs Windows XP Mode on your computer. After setup finishes, Windows XP Mode opens in a new window.
- 1). Click "Start," "All Programs," "Virtual PC" and then "Windows XP Mode."
- 2). Insert the driver disc for the device once the Windows XP Mode window displays on the screen. Wait for the "AutoPlay" windows to appear, then click "Install" or "Setup." Follow the on-screen prompts to install the device driver on the computer.
- 3). Connect the device to the computer while the Windows XP Mode window is open. Wait for Windows to detect and configure the device for use in Windows XP Mode.
