How to Decorate a New Small Apartment
- 1). Determine how you plan to use the space. Because space is at a premium in a small new apartment, you'll want to plan out the use of the space ahead of time. This allows you to take a good look all of the space available and to realistically assess the challenges you'll face.
- 2). Choose a decorating theme based on your plan. Many decorating styles--like modern--offer solutions in terms of furniture and colors that work very well in small spaces.

- 4). Utilize even the smallest of corners. For example, if you have a tiny alcove right in your entryway, that spot calls for an item like a telephone desk or small cabinets in which you can store household items.

When you need to access the cabinets, you only need to flip up the fabric to access the drawers.

- 7). Place a large bookshelf in between rooms like the kitchen and living room. The bookshelf will divide the space into two rooms visually. You can use the shelves on one side for storage and the other side of the shelves will function like a wall where you can hang photos or artwork. Additionally, because you're not hanging items on the walls, you won't damage the new walls of your apartment.
