The Bottom Line

In the past few years, Grandin Road and Martha Stewart for Grandin Road have been inspired by Halloweens from the past and used silhouettes in many of their decorations. Does it work? Absolutely. The silhouette form is simple yet versatile. The Spooky Halloween Willow Tree starts out as a silhouette form, but can be transformed into a 3D form by simply rearranging its wire "branches." The result is a stunning, graceful-yet-mysterious Halloween tree, sort of like the one Ray Bradbury wrote about in his aptly titled book, The Halloween Tree.

It's a keeper.

Pros
  • Has a beautiful, drooping willow form
  • Lightweight
  • Lots of small orange lights

  • Ummm. Nothing that I've encountered.

Guide Review - Grandin Road Spooky Halloween Willow Tree

Dark silhouettes look mysterious day or night, including this spooky Halloween Willow Tree from Grandin Road. This 3.5-foot tree is pre-lit with dozens of small orange lights, which, against the black weeping form of the willow branches, makes a striking silhouette that can be seen from a distance.

The Spooky Willow Spider-Halloween Tree is made of weatherproof materials, making it a great decoration for your outdoor Halloween landscape.

Place a few pumpkins nearby -- perhaps a few tombstones here and there -- and add a black raven or two on its weeping branches for an even spookier effect: it's Halloween, after all!

I love that this tree folds flat but comes to life when you play with its wire branches -- move them around to create a more three-dimensional form, like a real tree.

The "leaves" on the spooky willow's branches are made of sturdy black plastic and are lightweight, so they blow and sway in the wind, much like the real thing. I received the 3.5-footer, which is a great size for front entryways, balconies and smaller spaces. Grandin Road also offers a 5-footer, which has a stake for putting in the ground.

Unique and has great spook appeal.
