How to Display AVI Files in Vista Media Center Library
- 1). Install a codec pack, such as Shark007, K-Lite or CCCP (see Resources). Use the default settings during the installation. These software packages provide all of the support needed to play AVI files.
- 2). Copy or move the AVI files to the "Public Videos" folder. Click the "Start" button in the lower-left corner, then click "Computer." Under the "Folders" section on the left, double-click "Public." Click on the "Public Videos" folder. Copy or move the AVI files you wish to view into this folder.
- 3). Run Windows Media Center. Navigate to the "Video Library" icon under the "Pictures & Videos" category and press the "Enter" key or "OK" on the media center remote control. Media Center will now display the AVI videos.
