How to Clean Stainless Steel on a Boat
- 1). Check for rust on the stainless steel. If there is any, use Brasso (a common metal cleaner found at any hardware store) to remove it.
- 2). Pour stainless steel cleaner (found at any hardware store) onto a nonabrasive cloth or towel. Nontoxic alternatives to stainless steel cleaner include baking soda, vinegar, and mineral oil.
- 3). Look closely to determine the way the grain of the steel runs.
- 4). Rub the cloth or towel along the grain of the steel. How hard and how much scrubbing you need to do depends on how dirty the steel is.
- 5). Wipe the stainless steel completely dry when finished to ensure there won't be spotting.
