How to Do a 6-String Rainbow Friendship Bracelet
- 1). Measure and cut one length of red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple embroidery floss 36 inches long.
- 2). Match the ends of the six colors and tie a knot in one end approximately 1 1/2 inches from the end. Clip the knot on a clipboard so the long strand is lying from the top to the bottom of the board. The long end will dangle over the bottom edge of the clipboard.
- 3). Arrange the embroidery floss side-by-side in this order: red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. Separate the embroidery floss so there is approximately 1/4 inch between each strand.
- 4). Pick up the red strand. Make an L shape over the orange strand. Place the end of the red strand under the orange strand and up through the L shaped opening created by the red strand. Hold the orange strand tight. Pull the red strand tight until it forms a knot at the top of the strand. Repeat the process with the red strand making a knot on the yellow, green, blue and purple strands.
- 5). Straighten the red strand and place it parallel to the blue strand. Pick up the orange strand and repeat Step 4 to make a band of orange knots. Continue repeating Step 4 and 5 until the rainbow friendship bracelet is the desired length. Alternate the strands so the red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple pattern repeats throughout the bracelet.
- 6). Gather all six pieces of embroidery floss together. Tie a knot close to the last row in the friendship bracelet. Cut the ends of the embroidery floss so they are approximately 1 1/2 inches long.
