    • 1). Wet a cotton cloth with a leather stripper and firmly rub the leather with the cloth to strip off dirt, oils or other coatings. Apply the stripper to a toothbrush and use it to strip small, fiddly areas. Let the leather sit for 10 minutes while the stripper evaporates.

    • 2). Brush black dye onto the leather with a dye brush, smoothly and evenly. Use a small-tipped brush for hard-to-reach areas. Let the dye dry for half an hour.

    • 3). Apply additional coats of dye until you reach your desired shade of black. Let each coat dry for half an hour before applying the next. Let the final coat dry for two hours.

    • 4). Rub a clean cotton cloth over the leather to buff it smooth.
