It's no wonder that marriages are so difficult to maintain - when you take two people with differing interests, likes and dislikes and make them live under the same roof, there are going to be problems.
If you say "my spouse wants a divorce but I don't", this means that the problems have escalated to a decisive level.
But if you are able to focus on the right issues and do the right things, you can save your marriage just like I did.
You are sad to say "my spouse wants a divorce but I don't".
But do you really know what the problems are? If your spouse wants a divorce, chances are that there are big, big problems in your marriage that are bothering your spouse.
It is usually the case that we don't talk to our spouses a lot for fear of having a fight, but this ends up with there being a lot of unresolved problems, which build up over time and end the marriage when they burst out.
And even if when you talked to your spouse, maybe you didn't focus on his or her problems, but you focused on how to defend yourself and fend off the attacks.
Politicians do that - during debates they never focus on the problems but they focus on how those problems make them look.
They couldn't care less about the problems and what people are suffering because of it.
All they think of is to do something to fend off the attacks.
And you see how that turns out.
So, don't be like a politician - understand your spouse's problems and the part you are playing in them, and try to change it.
To that end, when your spouse wants a divorce but you don't, you should talk to him or her.
Provide your spouse with enough room to talk openly.
Be ready for some harsh criticisations - actually, be grateful for them.
This will 1.
allow your spouse to vent out the frustrations.
2.
Make you know about the real problems your spouse has with the marriage, so you can work on to fix those problems and save your marriage.
