How to Install Carpet Blocks
- 1). Find the center of the floor by measuring with the tape measure. Measure each wall and then divide that measurement in half to find the center. Mark this measurement on the bottom of the wall with the pencil, for each wall.
- 2). Use the tape measure again to measure the center point of one carpet block. In the same manner, divide the width in half and mark with a pencil on the back of the carpet block.
- 3). Line up the mark on your carpet block with the mark on your wall. Mark the left and right edges of the carpet block on the bottom of the wall. Repeat for each of the walls that you measured previously.
- 4). Snap your chalk line on the floor, lining up each of these edge marks, from one wall to the wall directly across. You will have a cross point in the center of your floor. This will be your starting point for laying your carpet blocks.
- 5). Lay your carpet blocks, without peeling off the backing, in the desired pattern on the floor. Start with the center four pieces in the center of the floor. Place one piece in each quadrant, lining up one corner of each carpet block with the chalk line.
- 6). Measure any perimeter gaps where a full block will not fit. Measure from the edge of the last full tile to the wall for each row. Flip over one carpet tile for each perimeter row piece that you will need. Mark the necessary measurement and cut using the carpet or utility knife. Remove all the carpet blocks to continue with installation; keep track of where the blocks go if you have multiple colors or patterns.
- 7). Apply carpet tape adhesive around the entire perimeter of the room, along the wall. You also need to apply the tape adhesive on the chalk lines.
- 8). Lay your carpet blocks back into position, peeling off the backing of each one to expose the adhesive underneath. Press each block into position, and follow the manufacturer's specific instructions for minimizing seams. For carpet blocks that also come with adhesive dots, you place these on the floor so that the corners of four blocks sit on one dot.
