The school's exhibition stand informed visitors about the British teaching system, features of British education and the school's values. Guests also received first-hand information about the new school building which is to open in September 2011 in the "Novopecherskie Lipki" residential territory. "We were happy to see that the forum visitors were very interested in British education. We were the first educational establishment to represent the British education system in Ukraine. During the 13 years of our existence more than half of our school leavers have gained places in British universities. Many of them have returned home after graduating from university to make a positive contribution to Ukraine by utilising the knowledge they received at higher educational institutions in Britain. The forum has given us an excellent opportunity to share our experience, talk about our successes and those of our students, of which the school is so proud", said Maxim Makarov, Deputy Director of the British International School. Olga Zastavnaya, General Director of the British International School, commented: "We gladly accepted the invitation to participate in the British Business Days in Ukraine. Great Britain is the acknowledged world leader in almost all forms of primary, secondary and higher education. The British education system is successful not simply because it teaches children to memorise, but also because it teaches them clear thinking and focused reasoning. Thanks to the forum we were able to demonstrate explain attendees the high educational standards maintained by the British International School. We are grateful to the organisers of the forum for this unique opportunity". Founded in 1997, and managed by the educational organisation ABE Group (United Kingdom), the British International School is a member of the European Council of International Schools and is the only educational institution in Ukraine accredited and licensed by Cambridge University as the International Examination Centre. The curriculum combines two educational programs: bi-lingual and international program that was developed based upon the curriculum of Cambridge University and the national curriculum of the UK. The division of teaching into the Bi-Lingual and International programs has allowed the school to provide a much more responsive approach to the requirements of the curriculum. Students who are citizens of Ukraine study according to the Ukrainian curriculum and International program and receive a certificate of full secondary education (Atestat) as well as IGCSE certificate. Students on the International Program study according to the Cambridge Examination Board IGCSE and receive only an International Certificate of education (IGCSE).For more information, please visit http://britishschool.kiev.ua/
