Since 1949, The American Dental Association has sponsored the National Children's Dental Health Month to educate children and the general public about dental health issues. The ADA provides free resources such as posters, fun activity sheets and other materials for school lessons on oral health. Follow up on a dental health lessons with an activity in which students create a dental health bulletin board. Students cut pictures from magazines to post on the bulletin board-toothpaste, floss, mouthwash, fruits and vegetables, Include images of a dentist and his office. This activity requires red food coloring and water. Tell children to swish the mixture in their mouths, and after spitting it out, use a mirror to check for stained plaque areas.
