    • 1). Visit an art museum. There are several downtown near the river in the heart of Frankfurt's business district. These museums cater mostly to the 20th century modernists and contemporary artists, and there is one venue worth visiting just for its architecture. Of special note is the Schirin collection and the Frankfurter Kunstverein. Also there is a Raphael collection for those who like the classics.

    • 2). Go shopping. Frankfurt is a very large business hub and there is no better way to discover this than to walk down the Zeil Pedestrian Mall and explore the shopping district firsthand.

    • 3). Go for a boat ride on the river. There are several boat companies that offer cruises on the Main River. Once out on the water you will find that there is a great view of the Frankfurt skyline.

    • 4). Search the downtown area for remnants of the old half-timbered German architecture. You won't find very many, but there are a few notable exceptions at Romerberg Square.

    • 5). Cross the river and visit a classic German restaurant in Sachsenhausen. This is a quaint cobblestone quarter, composed mostly of first-rate restaurants. The atmosphere and food are both excellent.
