How to Snap in 4-Inch Galvanized Duct Pipe
- 1). Measure the length of the duct pipe to the required length with the tape measure. Make a cut mark with a felt-tip marker. Cut the duct pipe with the tin snips.
- 2). Grasp the pipe and attach the two ends of the seam together. Start at one end of the pipe and work your way down. The seam will snap together as you move down the pipe.
- 3). Insert the crimped end of the pipe into a smooth end to attach the sections of pipe together. Secure the pipe to the fitting by driving a screw into the pipe with the power drill.
- 4). Attach a metal hanger to the pipe and secure it to the wall or ceiling with a screw. Insert a screw into a hole in the metal hanger and tighten with the power drill.
- 5). Apply silicone caulk to all joints and seams to seal the pipe to prevent the pipe from leaking.
