The DelFly Micro Camera Specifications
- The DelFly Micro has a weight of just 3 g. It has a size of 10 cm., and is 3.9 inches from wing-tip to wing-tip. Previous versions of the DelFly were up to five times larger.
- The DelFly Micro features a small tail, and flapping wings made from Mylar foil. The body and frame are made from carbon and balsawood. The DelFly Micro has a range of 164 feet. It is powered by a 30-mAh lithium-polymer battery. This gives the craft enough power for a three-minute flight. It flaps its wings 30 times per second.
- The pilot controlling the DelFly Micro uses a remote-control joystick to steer the aircraft; steering is based on video coming from the Delfly's camera. Although the video from the camera isn't perfect, it is clear enough to distinguish small details. The DelFly Micro was originally created as part of an experiment by the Delft University of Technology, contributing to the research of flying a plane without a pilot.
