Whether your wooden fence is already built or you're just in the planning stage, you can choose a fence gate for your wooden fence that will fit your fence's look and add curb appeal to your home. Fence gates come in a variety of materials, styles and other options, so be sure to compare options. - If you're shooting for a uniform look for your wooden fence, keep it classic. Purchase a gate where you bought your fence for a matched look. If you're looking for something different, you can still stick with a classic option. Basic aluminum and wrought iron gates are available in a variety of styles and, in most cases, you can purchase extra wood or a frame to set a metal gate into your wooden fence.
- Whether your wooden fence is modern or old-fashioned, a rustic gate can add a touch of charm to your outdoor space. You can create a rustic gate from old barn siding or wood or from vines, saplings and twigs. For a more industrial, rustic look, install an old wrought iron gate, but be sure to use a gate size that fits your fence. If you're not the hands-on type, purchase a rustic-looking gate from a home improvement store.
- If a basic or rustic gate is not for you, try something different. Plan and build your own gate and make it as unique as your outdoor space. Add an arbor over your gate for a flower-filled entry, or create a gate out of wood lattice and weave fabric or metal through the latticework. Use a deck rail to make a gate that matches a nearby deck, or saw a standard wood door in half to make a gate with unique style.
