    Mirrored Elegance

Large, clear glass bowls make elegant containers for a floating candle display. Make your arrangement even more dramatic when you place it on a plain or beveled mirror. The light and water will reflect and dance off the mirror to create a romantic glow. You can use white candles and clear water or color the water and candles to complement your decor. Adding fresh rose petals or other sweet-smelling flower petals to your piece adds interest and a light aroma to the room.

    Tall Vases

Take a more creative approach to a floating candle holder display by arranging a few tall glass vases in different heights on your table. This makes a modern combination of single candle floats. You can fill the vases with clear or colored water or place objects in the bottom of the glass vases to match a party theme. Items like glass stones, seashells, beads or crystals can make your floating candle centerpiece even more interesting.

    Tea Cup Centerpiece

Create a centerpiece that can be taken apart and given as individual party favors at the end of your event by using small drinking containers for floating candle holders. You can use fancy English tea cups, ornate Chinese cups, shot glasses or crystal highball glasses to float individual, hand-carved rose candles. Place the containers in a ring at the center of your table and add an inexpensive green plant like a fern in the middle of the arrangement to complete the centerpiece.

    Nature's Influence

Borrow the colors and elements of nature to create a more rustic floating candle arrangement. Use earthen vessels like stoneware, hand-thrown pottery or carved wooden bowls for the base. Place dark rocks or colorful pebbles in the bottom of your bowl and float plain votive candles in metal containers. You can dress your display by adding a bamboo mat and greenery like fern leaves or tall grass to peek out from under the vessel to bring more of the outdoors inside.
