Our bodies were designed to handle a little bit of stress.
It is a flight or fight tendency to protect us from dangers, yet now we often deal with too much stress that is more life related than actual danger.
This increase in stress takes a toll on your body, both physically and mentally.
Here are some tips and advice to help you handle stress and be happy! 1 What all do you need to do? Are you running a list of things-to-do in your head.
After a while the list gets jumbled and you do not remember what you need to do and when it needs to be done.
Writing your list will help you with that.
2 Do you know what you did? After you write the list, cross through the things you accomplish.
Actually write down other things you did and mark those off as well.
If you write down everything you do during the day you would be surprised.
3 Where is your focus? If you want to handle stress, stop multitasking.
Yes, you think you can do everything at once, but you are not focusing.
Multiple studies have shown that it actually takes you longer to do things when you multitask.
4 Is it a priority? Rather than spend energy on activities that are not important try to let them go.
When you spend a bunch of energy on something that is not important you may wind up rushing with something that is.
Try not to add to your stress.
5 Can you talk about it? There is something therapeutic about talking about the thing happening in your life.
Explain to a trusted friend that you do not need answers you just need to vent.
Not only does it relieve some tension, you may find answers within yourself! 6 Are you exercising? Perhaps you think this will just add to your stress, but exercise is a great way of helping you handle stress.
It has a way of clearing your thoughts and giving you something else on which to focus.
Even a short walk can help you feel calmer.
7 What is your reward? You probably do not even realize how much you do each day.
Give yourself credit for what you do and find a reward that can make you happy.
After you wash the laundry, enjoy a video game for a while or read a book.
8 Have you taken a break? When things get overwhelmed and you do not feel like you can handle anything more, it is time for a break.
Visit a nearby coffee shop.
Walk around a park.
If you can not go anywhere close your eyes and visualize a place that makes you feel relaxed and at peace.
9 What is the problem? There are things you can change and there are things you can not.
You can not change other people, but you can change how you react and how you view them.
Commit to improving your life and the way you deal with situations.
This is something that helps you handle stress and appreciate your life! 10 Are you happy? Your life is full of beautiful things and amazing miracles.
Do you see them? Look for the beauty in your life.
When you start counting all the things that make you smile, you might be surprised.
Learning to look for those when you feel stressed is a great reliever.
