How to Hang a Cupboard & Plate Racks
- 1). Measure and mark the desired placement of the cupboard or plate rack. Locate the wall studs in that area. Use a hammer and nail to test that the stud location is solid. Mark the cupboard on the back where it aligns with the stud locations. Transfer these marks to the inside back of the cupboard or plate rack.
- 2). Drill holes in the back of the cupboard or plate rack at the stud locations. Use a drill bit that is the same size as the screws that will be used. Drill the holes from inside the cupboard to allow splintering around the holes to be on the back side of the cabinet or rack.
- 3). Hold the cupboard or plate rack firmly against the wall in the desired location. Use the drill to place screws into the back of the cabinet or rack, extending them through the back piece and into the wall studs. Drill holes and insert screws on the sides if available mounting areas exist.
- 4). Mount plate racks underneath cupboards in the same manner. Use screws that do not penetrate through he bottom of the cupboard above. Add additional flooring structure underneath the cupboard if necessary.
