How to Buy an Ex a Birthday Present
- 1). Think about your reasons. Ask yourself if you want to get back together with this person, or if you simply want to acknowledge an important day to her. If you want to get back together, a more romantic present, such as flowers, jewelry, something handmade or something you know they really want may be appropriate. If you just want to acknowledge the day, try getting her a simple card with a very small, cheap, non-personal present.
- 2). Decide whether you're still friendly with this person. If you see this person every day and you've transitioned into being friends you can get them a nice, friendly (not romantic) present. If you haven't seen this person since the break-up, a present coming from you may be a not so nice shock.
- 3). Find out if the person is dating anyone new. If they are, a present from you may complicate matters. This can be good or bad, depending on your intentions.
- 4). Choose your card carefully so there are no misunderstandings. Choose a simple, birthday card for a non-romantic message and keep any hand written messages simple and to the point, if you don't want to get back together with this person. If you do want to get back together, choose a card that's a little more romantic.
