How to Define Natural Hair Curls
- 1). Use a leave-in conditioner after shampooing your hair. This will keep your hair soft and control fly-aways.
- 2). Brush or comb your hair while in the shower to eliminate any tangles.
- 3). Squeeze excess moisture out of your hair with a towel. Be gentle with your hair, and do not break up the clumps of hair that will form naturally after your shower.
- 4). Work gel or mousse into your hair, preferably one designed specifically for curly hair. Be careful not to break up the chunks of hair still held together by the conditioner. Scrunch your hair from the tips to the roots to work the gel toward your scalp.
- 5). Blow-dry your hair using a diffuser. The diffuser breaks up the air stream from the blow dryer, protecting your curls from breaking into smaller strands. Blow-dry from the tips to the roots, pushing the diffuser toward your scalp to scrunch the hair as it dries.
