How to Set Up a Caravan Satellite Dish Installation
- 1). Place the caravan satellite antenna's tripod base in a location that has an unobstructed view of the southern sky.
- 2). Slide the main antenna dish assembly onto the tripod base pole. Place the assembly onto the base pole and, customarily, there is a snap-into-place feel once the assembly is fit on properly. The antenna dish assembly will have a base clamp that fits around the base pole. Tighten the bolt or adjustment knob to hold the dish assembly on the base pole.
- 3). Use the compass to locate a direction of 145 degrees and point the front of the antenna's dish in that direction.
- 4). Plug the RG-6 coaxial cable into the cable port at the base of the antenna assembly and the other end into the "Antenna" port in the back of the satellite receiver connected to your television inside your caravan.
- 5). Press the "Power" button on the satellite receiver's remote control to turn it on.
- 6). Press the "Menu" button on the remote to open the main menu screen. The name of this main menu screen may vary between receiver models.
- 7). Use the "Up/Down" and "Left/Right" arrow buttons on the remote to navigate through the main menu to "Services" (or equivalent), then "System Setup" (or equivalent) and press "Enter" (or equivalent) to select it. The receiver will run an automatic signal test and a results screen will appear showing the "Signal Strength."
- 8). Move the satellite dish right by one degree, using your compass as a guide. Continue to slowly move the antenna until the signal strength shows "Locked."
