How to Manage a Cowlick
- 1). Choose a hairstyle that follow the cowlick's hair-growth pattern. For example, if the cowlick is at the crown of your head, use it as a point to begin the changing directions of hair for each side instead of a traditional part.
- 2). Cut your hair very short so that the hair does not have far to go. This reduces the appearance and effect of the cowlick.
- 3). Grow your hair longer and use styling products and the weight of your hair to force the cowlick in the desired direction.
- 4). Get a perm or use a hair relaxer. Both of these treatments work on the same principle: using a chemical to break the bonds of the hair, styling it, then neutralizing the chemical to form new bonds in the desired shape. This fix is semipermanent, meaning that it will maintain the hair that is treated but new hair growth will need to be treated again.
