A brewpub is a facility that is a combination restaurant and brewery. The facility brews its own beer on-site and serves it to their restaurant patrons. In America, this is becoming an increasingly popular idea. In North Carolina, there are a growing number of brewpubs patrons can enjoy. - Carolina Brewer began in 1995, at their Chapel Hill location. Today, they have two locations - Chapel Hill and Pittsboro. The overseeing of their in-house brewery operations is performed by Jon Connolly. Their award winning beers include their signature Flagship India Pale Ale. This IPA took a gold medal at the 2006 Great American Beer Festival. Their Copperline Amber Ale has won a gold medal at the World Beer Championships. These two award-winning beers, along with their Sky Blue Golden Ale, are brewed year long, alongside seasonal brews.
Carolina Brewery offers hungry patrons a traditional pub menu of burgers, sandwiches, pastas, pizza, salads, and soups. In addition to these basic items, they also offer menu selections that use seasonal produce. They claim to be the oldest brewpub in the Research Triangle Park, in North Carolina.
