John Deere was an inventor and industrialist who manufactured plows suitable for working the prairie soil. John Deere was born in Rutland, Vermont, on February 7, 1804. As a blacksmith, he began making plows out of polished steel solving the problem of the soil sticking to the blades and needing to be cleaned often.
