DIY Locker Decorations
- 1). Create an inspirational section. To get through some days, some motivational words may be the only thing that pulls you through. On any size piece of card stock you wish, write some of your favorite quotes. Consider writing them with a calligraphy pen or using a different colored ink other than blue or black. After the page is covered, hang it in your locker.
- 2). Decorate magnets. The cost of buying cute magnets can add up, so instead consider making your own. It is also a great way to reuse items you probably already have in addition to helping the environment. One option is to make them out of bottle caps. Find some bottle caps, wash them out and let them dry. Cut out a picture from a photo or a magazine that will fit in the underside of the bottle cap; trace the bottle cap and use it as a guideline to shape the picture into a circle. Use a brush-on decoupage sealant to glue the picture onto the cap, then when it dries, put another layer over it to seal it on. On the other side of the bottle cap, use Super Glue to glue on a small, circular magnet. Give it time to dry before use.
- 3). Make a nameplate. Draw block or bubble letters to draw out your name on a piece of card stock, either horizontally or vertically depending on which way it will fit in your locker. One option is to use a brush-on decoupage glue to fill in the letters and cover it with glitter, rhinestones, confetti or any other small embellishments. Another approach is to fill in the letters with paint, colored markers or with any other designs that you wish.
- 4). Display photos in a creative way. You can hang them up using just magnets, but another option is to hang them from decorative fabric. Cut a strip of any type of fabric that hangs from the top of your locker to the bottom. An inch below the top of the strip, use any type of glue you wish to glue the picture onto the fabric; continue gluing pictures on until you reach the bottom of the strip. Give it plenty of time to dry, then use a magnet at the top of the strip to attach it to the inside of the locker.
- 5). Make interchangeable locker collages. Pick a space in your locker that needs a little decoration, such as the back wall or the door. Measure the area, then cut two pieces of clear contact paper that are exactly the same size. You can choose any type of collage to make, for example, for Christmas cut out pictures from magazines of ornaments, Christmas trees and gifts. For football season, cut out pictures of your favorite players or stadiums. The contact paper is sticky, so lay out your pictures first on a table to decide how you want them. When you have the layout set, place them on the paper. Put the second piece of contact paper over it to protect the pictures.
