What NOT To Include In Your First Music Video

Anyone who has had the pleasure of shooting a music video knows that it is not all fun but also a lot of hard work.
Fun is just part of it.
We have to remember that what makes videos so important is the fact that a good video can really set the artist's career on sky-rocketing start.
What NOT to Include in Your First Music Video:
  1. Your friends and family who don't fit.
Videos are tools to enhance the artist's career, not a family photo album.
Some labels and artists have made their videos a family affair but the reality is that unless their faces fit they really shouldn't be featured in this tool made specifically for the industry.
When it comes to videos, there are always people who feel they have earned the right to be in it simply because they know you.
Be sure not to include people who do not fit the story line or the image you are working to develop.
  2. Amateur dancers.
Whenever we do a video that you want to be featured on a TV show or even on YouTube, you need to remember that you are competing against some artists that spend thousands of dollars on their video making.
The last thing you want to do is feature some dancers who dance like they should be hairdressers.
Any mistake is 10 times magnified on a recording.
You do not want your video to be watched for the wrong reason.
On YouTube a while back there was the video of an artist that generated close to a million views because the girl was such a bad singer.
That is what I call bad publicity.
Videos can also be watched because they are awful and not just because they catch the imagination and admiration of the viewers.
You should make your video as good as it can possibly be.
Feature the best dancers and performers you can find in your video and not the dance group from the local primary school!
  3. A song that you are the only one who likes it.
Your video is supposed to promote sales to your current fans as well as a new audience, so don't choose to do a video of a song just because you like it.
Choose the song because your fans would like it too.
There is no point spending a huge amount of time and money on a video simply to have it sit on the internet with nobody viewing it.
    This won't enhance your sales.
You must strive to put up a video of the song that everyone is going to be screaming about.
The single from your album that everyone wants to buy!
