    • 1). Check your tuning first with an online tuner, another guitar or piano. Once standard tuning has been achieved, place your index finger on the fourth fret of the sixth string, the biggest string on the guitar. Play that note along with the fifth string open. Play the two notes together and bring the pitch of the fifth string down to match the tone of the heavy string.

    • 2). Place your finger on the fifth fret of the sixth string. Play that note along with the open fifth string. Bring the tone of the sixth string's fifth fret down to match the fifth string open.

    • 3). Place your finger on the fifth string, fifth fret, and play that note along with the fourth string open. Bring those two notes into pitch by lowering the fourth string's pitch down.

    • 4). Place your finger on the fourth string, fifth fret and play that note along with the third string open. Bring the two notes into pitch by lowering the third string's pitch down.

    • 5). Place your finger on the third string, fourth fret, and play that note along with the second string open. Bring the two notes into pitch by lowering the second string's pitch down.

    • 6). Place your finger on the second string, fifth fret, and play that note along with the first string open. Bring the two notes into pitch by lowering the first string's pitch down to match.
