How to Tell If Microwaved Food Is Done?
- 1). Arrange the food in an orderly manner and cover it with a lid to promote steaming. This kills bacteria on food.
- 2). Place the food in the microwave and allow it to cook for the designated amount of time.
- 3). Insert a food thermometer into the cooked food. Leftovers and precooked food should be at least 165 degrees Fahrenheit before eating. Beef should be 160 degrees Fahrenheit and chicken should be 180 degrees Fahrenheit.
- 4). Allow the food to stand for three to five minutes. After a microwave heats the food, it takes a while for the food to cool to the proper temperature.
