Hi, I¡¯m T. Cooper. I¡¯m a New York City makeup artist, hairstylist, and co-founder of beauty and grooming company, Metro Look. Today, we¡¯re going to talk about a question one of you recently asked, which was, ¡°How do I braid my scarf into a headband?¡± Braiding your scarf into a headband is a really, really cool way to add some texture around your head, and it¡¯s a good way to utilize your scarves other than just tying them around your head. But, the thing with a scarf is, when you fold it in half there are only two strands hanging, and you need at least three for a braid. Unless you want to chop up your scarves, you can absolutely do that. But, I don¡¯t about you, but Mama needs her scarves for other stuff. So, I¡¯m going to use two scarves, and that¡¯s really really cool too, because then you can add different prints and different textures. So, what you do is you braid both scarves in half. But, as I said before, if you wanted to cut up your scarf, you can just, like, cut it here and then you¡¯d have three, and then you can braid one scarf. But, I need my scarves, so I¡¯m going to intertwine them like this. And now, I¡¯m just going to use this one ¨C the printed one ¨C as if it¡¯s just one strand. And then, I¡¯m going to begin my braid from there. Keep it very very tight at the top and just braid normally, like you would braid your hair. And, you see how that¡¯s coming along? Braid normally, just as you would braid your hair, and braid until you get to the ends. And, I¡¯m just, like, pulling it up as I go, just because it has a tendency to fall, but don¡¯t worry about that, it¡¯s not a big deal at all. And, you see it¡¯s coming along. It¡¯s a nice little braid, and it¡¯s a really cute decoration for your hair as well. So, when you get to the bottom, you have a few different options. I¡¯m simply just going to band mine off with a clear elastic. You could even create a knot, but I¡¯m thinking that a knot might create a little bit too much bulk in the back of the hair. But, if you¡¯ve got a ton of hair and it won¡¯t matter, then you can simply tie a knot in it and it¡¯ll be fine. So, I am going to grab one of my clear elastics right over here. I¡¯m just going to band off the tip of this, just so that it won¡¯t unravel. And, there it is: You¡¯ve got a cute little headband. And then, you can place it any way you want around the head ¨C you can place it this way, you can band it off like that, you can just put it on top and band it this way ¨C anything you¡¯d like to do, you have limitless options.
