How to Remove the CD Player in a 2000 Mazda Protege SE

    • 1). Locate the two holes on either side of the stock stereo, one on top of the other. These might be covered up by plastic plugs. If so, remove the plugs with a thumbnail.

    • 2). Place one of the Mazda radio removal tools into the two holes on the left side of the stereo using your hands. Push it in until it clicks in place. Repeat the process on the other side of the stereo.

    • 3). Push the keys towards each other while pulling them to release the stereo from the dashboard. Then unplug the antenna lead and wiring harness from the back of the deck using your hands.
