    Upgrading Hard Drive

    • 1). Shut down computer. Remove all cables connected to the tower including peripherals, network cables and power cords.

    • 2). Unlatch the cover release catch. Open and remove the computer cover.

    • 3). Press upward on the CD/DVD drive release catch. Slide the drive backwards. Lift upward to remove it from the computer. Detach data and power cables from the drive.

    • 4). Press upward on the floppy drive release catch. Slide the drive backwards. Lift upward to remove it from the computer. Detach data and power cables from the drive.

    • 5). Push inward on the securing clips on either side of the hard drive. Push the drive backward.

    • 6). Lift up to remove the drive from the computer. Detach data and power cables from the hard drive.

    • 7). Detach the plastic hard-drive bracket from old hard drive by unclipping the two release tabs, if the new drive does not have one attached. Snap the bracket onto the new hard drive.

    • 8). Attach data and power cables to the new hard drive. Press the hard drive into the drive bay until it snaps into place.

    • 9). Reinstall CD/DVD and floppy drives. Reattach power and data cables.

      Reposition the tower cover. Reattach all cables and peripherals.

    • 11

      Format hard drive using manufacturer's instructions.

    Removing Currently Installed RAM Modules and Installing New Modules

    • 1). Shut down computer. Remove all cables connected to the tower including peripherals, network cables, and power cords.

    • 2). Unlatch the cover release catch. Open and remove the computer cover.

    • 3). Push outward on clips on either end of the memory module. Grasp the module by the edges and remove. Repeat with second module if one is present.

    • 4). Line up the new RAM module with the slot. Make sure the indentation in the module is lined up with the bar across the slot.

    • 5). Push firmly until the module snaps into place. If inserted correctly, the retaining clips should snap closed on their own. Replace computer cover. Reattach cables.

    Removing Graphics Card and Installing a New Card

    • 1). Shut down computer. Remove all cables connected to the tower including peripherals, network cables and power cords.

    • 2). Unlatch the cover release catch. Open and remove the computer cover.

    • 3). Press the release catch on the video card and swing it outward. Detach any cables connecting the card. Hold card by top edges and slide it out.

    • 4). Press the new card into the slot and push firmly into place. Push down on the card release catch. Connect cables if any are present.

    • 5). Reposition tower cover. Reattach cables and peripherals.
