How to Remove a Broken Key From a Lock Cylinder in a Hyundai

    • 1). Analyze the key in the lock cylinder to see if it is extended out from the surface of the lock cylinder. If you can grab onto it with a pair of vise grips, proceed to Step 2. If not, proceed to Step 3.

    • 2). Clamp the vise grips onto the key, making them tight on the key. Turn the key to remove it from the lock and pull the vise grips toward you.

    • 3). Insert a metal drill bit into the drill. Place the tip of the drill on the lock cylinder just to the right of the broken key. Drill out the lock cylinder until there is an opening on the side of the key large enough to hold the tip of the vise grips. Repeat for the left side of the key.

    • 4). Clamp the vise grips onto the key and pull it out and away from the lock cylinder.
