    • 1). Measure the width of the existing condensate pipe with a measuring tape. Measure the length of the line and make note of the types and number of joints.

    • 2). Go to the hardware store and purchase the exact same size of pipe and type of joints.

    • 3). Turn the furnace and air-conditioner's power off at the distribution panel. This makes sure the unit doesn't turn on while you are working.

    • 4). Cut the existing condensate pipe off at the condensate pan's outlet pipe with a hack saw. Making as straight a cut as possible is important for joining the new pipe later. Cut the pipe off at its termination point in the same manner.

    • 5). Draw the general shape of the pipe on a note pad. Measure each section and record the actual length on the paper.

    • 6). Measure and cut the PVC pipe to the lengths required in your notes. Sand the burrs off the ends of the cut pipes with sandpaper.

    • 7). Assemble the PVC cut sections with the elbows in the shape of the old pipe. Hold the new condensate line up to air-conditioner's outlet and the line's termination point to double check the new pipe fits properly. Make adjustments as necessary

    • 8). Pull apart the first section and apply PVC primer to the outside of the pipe and the inside of the joint. Apply PVC glue in the same locations and push the pipe into the joint. Align the direction of the joint quickly before the glue bonds. Repeat this process to glue each joint in the pipe.

    • 9). Join the PVC coupler to the condensate pan's outlet using the same technique. Join the condensate line to the coupler by pushing them together. Repeat this process to join the other end of the pipe to the termination point.
