Do Juice Fasts Really Work?

Juice fasting has been around for quite some time.
There are several kinds of fasts, from religious fasts to the kinds of fasts where you drink nothing but water for long periods of time.
There are various reasons that people choose to do juice fasts.
For starters, our diets consist of a lot of foods and ingredients that can clog up our bodies.
Most people do juice fasts in order to remove excess food products and animal wastes from their diets.
It sounds pretty gross, but in the end it can actually have a host of health benefits for the person involved as long as they are careful and do it the right way.
If you think about all of the different foods that you consume in a day, there are a lot of excess products that are thrown in the mix such as refined sugars, high fructose corn syrup, white flour and fattening animal products such as red meat, eggs, and fish.
In order to begin a juice fast, you will first need a juicer.
A juicer is different than a mixer, blender or smoothie maker.
You can actually search for it in the store by its given name.
Juice fasts are a great way to rid the body of unnecessary toxins that are stored in the blood stream.
Toxins in a persons body can cause all sorts of medical problems such as colon cancer, urinary tract infections, constipation and even bad breath.
When a person sweats, they release toxins on their skin.
This may or may not lead to a person getting acne or some other skin condition such as eczema.
Another benefit to juice fasting is that it helps you lose weight (that is if you can stand to lose a couple of pounds).
For those people who choose to do a juice fast, who are not in need of losing excess weight, there are other options to ensure that you are always maintaining a healthy weight.
There are plenty of people out there who are vehemently opposed to juice fasting because they feel that is an unhealthy way to cleanse the body of toxins.
The rule of thumb for how long you should stay on a juice fast is to stay on it as long as you have been free of detoxification symptoms for two whole days.
These symptoms, however, can be rather severe, making one believe that the "cure is in fact worse than the disease.
" For each person, the juice fast will be different.
Some people may be able to complete the fast for anywhere from 10 to 20 days, while for others- they may only be able to stand it for 3-4 days at best.
Some practitioners will allow a person to do the juice fast for three days of the week, only allowing the person to eat fresh fruits and/or veggies the other days.
However, most (if not all) practitioners agree that among the prohibited foods are: animal flesh of any kind, fish, poultry, eggs and dairy products.
Occasionally, a tablespoon of honey once a day might be allowed.
It takes a lot of discipline and is recommended that you thoroughly read up on how to complete a juice fast from a trusted health expert before attempting it yourself.
Doing it the wrong way may cause more problems rather than help, and you certainly don't want that.
