How to Remove Weeds & Shrubs From a Garden
- 1). Put on a pair of gardening gloves to protect your hands.
- 2). Locate the stems and stalks of weeds at the ground level. Hold the base of the weed firmly in your hands and pull upward slowly to pull the roots out along with the weed.
- 3). Pull each weed in your garden this way and repeat the process each time you spot a new weed growing.
- 4). Place pulled weeds in a lawn waste bag. Do not leave them on the ground, as they can easily re-root themselves.
- 1). Cut the shrub branches as low to the ground as possible with lopping shears. This will make it easier to view the base of the shrub and get to the root system.
- 2). Dig around the main branches that come directly from the ground with a shovel to expose the root system of the shrub.
- 3). Dig all the way around the root system until you have reached the ends of the roots in depth and work the shovel blade under the root system to break through any thick embedded roots.
- 4). Pull the shrub from the ground and place it in a lawn waste bag along with all of the lopped-off branches.
