How to Age Successfully

There is no denying that our population is aging.
We are going to have more older people than young people.
When we look at the young people, some of us may feel inferior to the younger people.
The older people may feel threatened by the younger.
As a result, the older people may have to deal with a emotional burden of feeling inferior to the younger people.
How to deal with the emotional burden? One of the way is memory exercises.
As we age, our memory power may decline.
We may have some difficulty in remembering some of the things that we can remember easily.
By doing some exercises, we can strengthen muscles in the memory area of the brain.
Examples of the memory exercises are visualization and "Topical Systems".
Visualization is absorbing what we see/hear and exaggerate the images that we see into what we can remember easily.
Example of visualization is absorbing and exaggerate the features of faces/names and linking them so that we may recall the names easily when we see the same faces.
"Topical Systems" are systems to remember a list of things in a certain order.
First step of a "Topical System" is to choose a set of locations that we are most familiar with.
We then link the things in the order of list with each of the locations by using exaggeration.
We can use the location when next time we need to remember the list of things we need to do.
The other way of dealing with emotional burden is thinking positively, and using meditation.
Thinking positively is changing our thinking by repeating to ourselves positive statements.
Meditation is letting our mind "relax" by focusing on a sound or object.
When our mind "come back" to our body, we will feel more relax and we will feel better.
There are so many ways of dealing with the emotional burden of aging.
It is all about changing our thinking.
Let us change our thinking and have a good time in later part of our lives.
