How to Share & Map Folders
- 1). Click "Start," select "Computer" and click one time on the folder you want to share and map.
- 2). Click "Share with" from the top toolbar in Windows Explorer and choose "Specific People." This will launch the file-sharing options.
- 3). Select the name of the user from the drop-down menu and click "Add." You can also share with "Everyone" if you don't need to set sharing to a specific user.
- 4). Click the permission level and select "Read/Write" from the menu.
- 5). Click the "Share" button and allow the computer to set the shared properties.
- 1). Ensure both computers that you want to network are turned on.
- 2). Click the "Start" button and choose "Computer" from the Start menu.
- 3). Click "Map network drive" from the top toolbar.
- 4). Select a drive letter from the "Drive" drop-down menu.
- 5). Click "Browse" to look for the shared folders on the network. You should find the folder listed under the other computer's name.
- 6). Click the folder you would like to map and press the "OK" button.
- 7). Place a check in the box next to "Reconnect at logon."
- 8). Click "Finish" to complete the map. You will now see the shared folder under "Network Location" on your computer's drive select window.
