An organized bedroom offers you feelings of comfort and relaxation, whereas a cluttered one completely robs you of positive energy and emotion.
Getting control of a very messy and cluttered bedroom may seem like an impossible job, but you can complete the job in around a day even if it's really messed up.
Make a decision, and stop accepting that cluttered mess that you are living in, and use the guidelines below to create a peaceful room that's full of relaxation, and positive energy.
When you start taking the necessary steps to de-clutter your bedroom, grab yourself a pen and paper to make a few quick notes.
Look around your room and try to determine where most of the clutter is congregating.
You need to decide what things you really need to keep, and which items are just cluttering the area up.
Here's the essentials...
1.
If you don't have a trash bin in your room you may find yourself leaving little pieces of garbage on your nightstand and dresser? This problem is easily solved.
"Go ahead and get a trash can", it okay.
Having a small tasteful trash bin in the bedroom is perfectly acceptable.
This will be the first thing you will write on your list.
2.
Is your laundry simply thrown in a pile all over the floor? If you do not already have a dirty clothes hamper, then this will need to be written on your list as well.
Additionally, you need to make sure that you have enough room in your closet and dressers for all of your clothes because often if you don't, piles of clean clothes end up on top of your dresser causing a cluttered mess.
3.
How does the organization look under your bed? Do you need to add under bed storage containers to your shopping list as well? If you have a lot of items to go under the bed you could even get bed lifts to allow for larger under bed bins with wheels.
4.
Are you someone who enjoys reading a bit at night before you go to sleep? If so then perhaps you have an out of control pile of magazines and books lying around.
You may want to consider putting up a few shelves around the bed area to neatly store your reading material where they are easy to reach but not cluttering up the room.
5.
Think about how you want to handle dressers, go through all of the drawers and group similar items together, such as socks in one drawer, swim wear in another drawer, etc.
Chances are, there are probably quite a few things that you do not even wear anymore and that you can get rid of, freeing up a bit of space.
Seasonal clothes, bedding and shoes can often all be stored under your bed and out of the way.
Only keep out the things that you need.
After you've gone through your entire bedroom and finished your shopping list of things that you need, go ahead and head to the store and then come right back so you can continue working.
After you've returned and begun to uncluttered your bedroom, go ahead and hang those shelves around your bed so you can get your books up out of the way.
