How to Use Hypnosis for Relaxation, Weight Loss, to Stop Smoking and to Create the Life You Want

Hypnosis.
Often this word conjures up misconceptions, falsehoods and the image of a swinging pocket watch.
Hypnosis has been defined as simply a generic term that encompasses anything that alters perception or changes consciousness.
These changes can include activities like meditation, daydreaming, guided imagery and visualization, yoga and deep muscle relaxation.
Many Americans think hypnosis is much more than it really is.
When you are hypnotized, you do not levitate or fly out of your body or (necessarily) bark like a dog.
When you are hypnotized you simply feel relaxed.
Now relaxation may be a new and unusual experience for many but most find the experience to be quite pleasurable! Hypnosis is commonly used for weight loss, quitting smoking, changing behaviors and conquering phobias but also has uses in the medical and dental professions as an aid in pre and post surgery procedures and in pain management The way it works is not always obvious, but take for example weight-loss.
Stress is considered the #1 emotion we Americans eat about.
The antidote to stress is relaxation, not eating.
By changing the stress level in our lives, we've just neutralized one of the major reasons we eat when we're not hungry-which is why over 63% of Americans are overweight.
It has been estimated that over 75% of Americans are sleep deprived and research has shown several correlations between sleep deprivation and overeating.
Often we mistake being tired for feeling hungry (On occasion, you may have said to yourself, "I'd better eat something to keep up my strength.
").
Self-hypnosis is a great way to get deep, restful, natural sleep.
Simply go to bed and begin to relax your body by telling your toes to relax; then your feet, your legs and all the way up your body.
Not only will you physically relax very deeply, this exercise keeps your mind occupied so you are not dwelling on the problems of the day, which frequently keep you awake and unsettled.
The last ten minutes before you sleep at night and the first ten minutes after you awaken in the morning are said to be the most psychologically powerful of the day.
Ideally, you are in the alpha brain wave state: A state of calm and peacefulness, a state of light hypnosis.
While in this state, you can give yourself suggestions, which will enhance the quality of your life.
Spend a few moments at the end of each day and the beginning of the next visualizing and imagining how your ideal life would be.
Maybe you would like a more exciting career, a healthier, fit body or more fulfilling relationships.
Think about what would change for you if your life were ideal.
Too often, we spend these precious moments dwelling on what's wrong with our lives and worrying.
Use this time to create the life you really want.
If you find yourself thrashing over a problem instead of sleeping, try turning the problem over to your subconscious mind.
Do this by placing a glass of water next to your bed.
Then bring your problem into your mind very clearly.
Drink half of the water and tell yourself that when you awaken in the morning and drink the rest of the water, the answer to your problem will be very clear to you and tell yourself that since your problem is being solved, you can now sleep deeply and restfully.
When you awaken in the morning, drink the remaining water and the answer will be there for you.
Drinking the water is called "anchoring".
Anchors trigger the subconscious to remember what you told it to do.
Your subconscious is vastly more creative than your conscious mind.
You might be surprised.
If you are very skeptical, it may take you several evenings of programming your mind before you see the results.
Be persistent and keep asking inner wisdom to solve your problems and you will love how much easier life can be when you learn to master more of your mind.
All of these tools are forms of hypnosis and/or self-hypnosis.
They have nothing to do with what you see at County Fairs or other stage hypnosis shows.
Stage hypnosis is simply a person in the audience giving a hypnotist on the stage permission to make a fool out of him or her.
We don't even need hypnosis for that-we have karaoke! Your body, as well as your brain, has inner wisdom.
Your body knows how to heal itself.
When you cut your finger, you can watch your body fix itself over a period of a few days.
When you get a virus, a physician will generally tell you, "Go home, drink liquids, rest, and take 2 aspirin and some vitamin C.
" What you are doing is creating the optimal environment for your body to heal itself.
Especially the "rest" part.
Resting allows you to go into light hypnosis states and your body heals itself best when your mind and body are relaxed.
You can also use hypnosis to ascertain the origin of certain behaviors, to make specific foods and behaviors disappear from your life for awhile and help you be more conscious for brief periods of time during which you can decide who you want running your life: The adult side of your brain or that Twinkie! These are just some of the many ways hypnosis can be used to help you master more of your mind and your life.
You are hypnotized-daydreaming, spacing out, and fantasizing-three to four hours a normal day.
How you spend that time will often determine the quality of your life.
