How to Build a Simple Clubhouse for Kids
- 1). Sketch the design of the clubhouse on a piece of paper. The plan should include the size and measurements.
- 2). Choose the site where you are going to make the clubhouse and level the ground using a rake.
- 3). Assemble all the materials that you need to build the clubhouse. The materials will vary depending on your budget and design of the clubhouse. Ensure they are sufficient to build four walls, floor and ceiling.
- 4). Use lumber to lay out the general outline of the clubhouse and cover it with a plastic sheeting moisture barrier. Make the frames of the floor according to the measurements of your design by screwing or nailing the plywood on the platform over the barrier.
- 5). Use four planks of plywood to make the frames of the wall. Join three of the planks to make the sides and the back of the clubhouse. The measurements should match the ones in your design.
- 6). Mark the door and windows on the fourth plank of plywood. Use a jigsaw to cut out the windows and door. This fourth plank is for the front wall.
- 7). Stand the frames of the walls on top of the plywood floor once they are completed and nail the bottom plates through the plywood into the beams using nails.
- 8). Use lumber or metal truss to build the roof. If you want a pitch-free roof, then you can fasten plywood on top of the clubhouse to give it a box appearance. Make the roof separately on the ground before lifting and securing it into place on top of the clubhouse walls.
- 9). Decorate and paint the clubhouse. You can personalize the clubhouse by installing a real door on it.
- 10
Attach door and window frames with hinges and add a latch. Paint and decorate the clubhouse with your child’s favorite color.
