How to Troubleshoot a Lennox G23Q3 Gas Furnace With a Burn Smell
- 1). Start the burner and inspect the flame. A clean and well burning flame should be predominantly blue and strong in appearance. If the flame isn't blue, the filter may be dirty.
- 2). Turn off the power at your Lennox G23Q3 furnace and allow your unit to cool down.
- 3). Remove the blower access panel when your unit has cooled down. Remove the filter by pressing the side filter clips and pulling the filter up and out.
- 4). Clean the filter with water and mild soap. Allow it to dry before reinserting it in its compartment. Replace the blower access panel.
- 5). Inspect the area around your furnace and remove any objects around the air ducts. Objects may limit airflow and cause your furnace to produce a burning smell. Inspect the return air duct and clear debris around it as well.
- 6). Inspect the blower wheel inside the blower access panel if your furnace is still producing an unusual burn smell. Remove debris in and around the blower.
