How to Make a Spiral Pendant From Copper Wire

    • 1). Grasp the end of the wire with the tip of the round-nose pliers, as close to the end of the pliers' jaws as possible.

    • 2). Wrap the wire around the tip of the pliers to form a tiny loop. With your fingers, wrap the wire around the loop two or three times. Remove the round-nose pliers.

    • 3). Grasp the loop with the chain-nose pliers, taking care not to close them so tightly as to scratch or flatten the wire. Gently push the wire around the loop with your other hand, keeping it in contact with the previous layers. Continue until the spiral is the size you want it to be.

    • 4). Cut the wire about 1 inch above the spiral, using the flush cutters.

    • 5). Grasp the wire just past the last curve of the spiral, using the chain-nose pliers. Bend the wire to a 90-degree angle so that it is perpendicular to the rest of the spiral.

    • 6). Make a loop just above the angle with the round-nose pliers by bending the wire around the tip of the jaw. Wrap the remaining end of the wire around the main length -- just above the spiral -- two or three times to form a wrapped loop for attaching the pendant to your necklace.

    • 7). Cut off the excess wire with the flush cutters. With the chain-nose pliers, squeeze the end flush with the rest of the piece. Smooth rough edges with the nail file, as needed.

    • 8). Harden the piece, if you wish, by placing it on the wood block and hitting it with the mallet several times. Turn it over and repeat the process.

    • 9). Cut a 1/2-inch piece of wire. Use the round-nose pliers to form a loop around the part of the jaws closest to the handle. Cut off excess wire. This circle is the jump ring, which joins your pendant to the necklace.
