How to Make Your Own Auto Lumbar Pillow
- 1). Mark out a rectangle on the cotton fabric measuring about 15-by-24 inches using a ruler and a fabric marker. Cut out the rectangle using a sharp pair of scissors.
- 2). Fold the rectangle in half so that the two 24-inch sides meet and the right side of the fabric is facing in. Sew along one short side of the folded rectangle and the 24-inch side using a 3/8-inch seam allowance and straight stitch on a sewing machine. Sew along one half of the other short side, leaving about a 7-inch opening. Turn the tube right-side out through the opening.
- 3). Push a handful of polyester filling into the bottom corner of the rectangular pouch. Continue filling the pillow with handfuls of stuffing until it begins to feel firm. Push down on the stuffing as you go to create a very firm pillow.
- 4). Push down on the last of the stuffing. Fold in the free 3/8 inch along the small opening on the short side of the pillow and pin it closed with fabric pins. Sew the opening closed with a sewing machine and a straight stitch.
